VLCD ~ Day 4

Weighed in at 176.5 today.

Another day, another pound gone!  Woo hoo!  I am definitely excited to see the scale moving.  It's day four and I have lost 4lbs in 4 days.  Doug has lost 6lbs in 4 days.  Men!  Always losing more/easier than women :-p

Anyhow, I searched the sites for recipes again tonite, I'm just positive that I will get sick of regularly seasoned chicken and burgers.  So tonite, we cooked up a ton of food!  Doug likes his stuff pretty plain, but I did pull up a recipe for "fried (actually baked) nuggets".  I made those and also seasoned up some regular nuggets and popped them in the oven for him.  I also made taco meat :)  It's always been a fav of mine.  I figure I'll throw it over lettuce, or dice up some tomatoes and mix it all together.  Then I made blackened chicken, caribbean chicken and found a recipe for a "mock shake n bake".  Oh yeah, got a recipe for meatballs too!  So we cooked it up, seperated it, froze some, refrigerated the rest.  I'm looking forward to a little something different.  I'll post back and let you know thumbs up or thumbs down.

As for now, it's 10:49pm, I am exhausted and gonna go chill on the couch with my man <3

Two days before we start.

Weighed in at 180.6 this morning.

Ok, we have 2 days till we start the HCG diet.  Doug and I were going to shop at Whole Foods, but since we had two kids in tow who weren't being the most cooperative, we did our shopping at Ingles.  Our grocery items were pretty interesting and divided.  We had food for the kids, then food for our binging days and then food (if that's what you wanna call it) for the other 47 days of the diet.

The binging day food was fun to shop for.  We have biscuits, cuz Doug makes excellent biscuits and gravy.  That is a perfect "fatty" food to stuff up on.  Oh, I even had him pull out a pound of bacon to make the gravy with (and to eat of course!)  We got some Krispy Kreme doughnuts.  I've never had them, so what a better time to try them out?  Oh and I got 2 blocks of cheese.  Mmmmm, I love cheese and crackers!  I'm going to snack on those as well.  We bought fixins for a stew;  meat, potatoes, corn and green beans.  I plan on having some pasta of some sort, so I bought some garlic parmesean rolls to go with that.  I also would like to have some sloppy joe's too.  They suggest eating every four hours, so I'll do my best :)

The 500 calorie food shopping was pretty eye opening.  We brought the list of approved foods of which between both Doug and I, we whittled it down to the following:

oranges, apples, tomatoes, lettuce, celery, radishes, organic chicken, tri tip steak, 93% fat free ground beef, fish and 2 cases of bottled water.

Yes, that is all we will be consuming for the next 6 weeks.  Hard to imagine that one will not starve, but according to the protocol, the drops will do the work.

I am getting myself into the mindset for this.  I am excited.  I really am looking forward to wearing some of the clothes I have been "saving" for my skinny self again!

Ok, gonna sign out for now.  I'll try and blog again tomorrow :)

HCG Diet

Ok, here's the deal. I know a few people who have tried this new "weight loss protocol". It is called the HCG diet. What it is in a nutshell:

You either have the HCG injected by a doctor/nurse practitioner, or you may choose to do the injections yourself, or, if you are a wussy like me, you can take drops under your tongue 3 times a day.

You follow a VERY strict 500 calorie diet.

You can lose approximately 30 lbs in 30 days.

Sounds crazy right? Well, if you know me, you know I have researched the hell out of this thing. I swear, I was totally skeptical and honestly said, "no freakin' way!" Well, here I am, after all the digging into this thing, I'm ready to give it a shot. I have been on just about EVERY diet imaginable throughout my teen/adult life. I have tried everything from starving myself, to Weight Watchers, and I am ready to try something new. I am hoping to blog my entire experience, because I have read a few people's blogs while they were on this diet and I was really drawn to it because it didn't seem impossible to do. I am a very strong willed person and really think this is something I can do. I am not going to do this alone. After much discussion with my boyfriend Doug, he has decided he will give it a shot too. At first, he too thought, no way, but he has now admitted that he is pretty excited!

If you would like to check it out, hcgcompletediet.com is the website I have decided to order from. I searched around and they appeared to be the most legit. I would personally suggest to anyone looking into doing this to read everything you possibly can on this diet before starting it. Here is an excellent site for a ton of info on it : http://hcgdietinfo.com/
It's not going to be easy from what I have read.

I am going to do 40 days and see what happens. According to the protocol, on day one and two you are supposed to start taking the drops (my dosage is 20 drops, I'm using the alcohol free hCG), then pretty much stuff your face with as much fatty foods as you can. You are building up the fat so that you have plenty to "live off of" for the duration of your diet. The drops trigger your body to release your stored fat (yeah, the crap I've been building up for years and years)! They say it is extremely important to follow the instructions and seriously pig the f*%k out on fatty foods. If you don't, you are more likely to be very hungry the 1st few days of the diet. So who am I to not follow orders? I'm totally looking forward to this part ;) I'm thinking I'm gonna hit Olive Garden for sure :)

Then for the duration of your diet, you must follow the following 500 calorie diet:

Breakfast:

Tea or coffee in any quantity without sugar. Only one tablespoonful of milk allowed in 24 hours. Saccharin or Stevia may be used.

Lunch:

1. 100 grams of veal, beef, chicken breast, fresh white fish, lobster, crab, or shrimp. All visible fat must be carefully removed before cooking, and the meat must be weighed raw. It must be boiled or grilled without additional fat. Salmon, eel, tuna, herring, dried or pickled fish are not allowed. The chicken breast must be removed from the bird.

2. One type of vegetable only to be chosen from the following: spinach, chard, chicory, beet-greens, green salad, tomatoes, celery, fennel, onions, red radishes, cucumbers, asparagus, cabbage.

3. One breadstick (grissino) or one Melba toast.

4. An apple, orange, or a handful of strawberries or one-half grapefruit.

Dinner :

The same four choices as lunch (above.)

Anyhow, our hCG came in today, so we are going to hit Whole Foods and do some shopping. They say the better you follow the protocol, the better results you will get. The one thing I really like about this thing is, if I don't follow the plan, it's not going to hurt me in any way, it's just going to not allow me to get the results I'm looking for.

We aren't starting until Thursday (Today is Sunday), but to give you an idea of where I am starting from, I am:

5' 8" tall

My weight as of this morning (and I weigh myself religiously each morning), I was 181.6 lbs.

My current jean/pant size is a 14.

My current top is a large.

Bra size is a 38 C.

If I get the results I am looking for, I was pretty happy when I weighed 155lbs, my jeans were a size 10 and my tops were a medium. So I ain't looking for much, but just enough :)
Doug says he would like to lose about 20lbs. When I get the chance, if he's up for sharing, I'll find out his info too.

Well, that's about it for today. I will try and post a little each day, and once we start the diet, I will post every day for sure.
